Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia aims to nurture and inspire young Australian football players of the future. United by a game played the world over, the football tournament aims to demonstrate a spirit of friendship and sportsmanship to players as they make new friends from around the country and learn new skills
The inaugural Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia was held in Sydney on 1-2 October 2011. Equivalent tournaments were played in more than 20 countries around the world with each national champion going on to represent their country at the Volkswagen Junior World Masters which took place in May 2012 in Poland.
ECU Joondalup from Western Australia became the first Australian representatives of Volkswagen Junior World Masters after winning the 2011 tournament and as champions they were flown, courtesy of Volkswagen, to Poland to compete in the finals. ECU Joondalup made their country proud by making it through to the quarter-finals where they were defeated 3-1 by eventual champions Germany.
The next Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia tournament will be held at the Sydney Academy of Sport in Narrabeen, New South Wales, from 5-6 October 2013. To learn more about the Tournament and the nomination process click here.
