Volkswagen’s TSI twin or single-charged engine combines our innovative and worldleading direct injection petrol technology with turbocharging. Volkswagen is the first and only manufacturer worldwide that is offering twin-charged technology in a mass volume series engine. The TSI engine uses a comparatively small amount of cubic capacity, making it fuel efficient while delivering high torque at low revs and a continuous surge of power. This ensures you can steer clear of petrol stations during those long, pleasurable drives. CO₂ emissions are also significantly reduced thanks to the TSI technology. Since its debut, the Volkswagen TSI has achieved widespread acclaim, winning for example the prestigious International Engine of the Year award in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 as well as the Australian International Design Award in 2008 in the automotive and transport category. The 1.4 TSI twincharger engine won Best New Engine in 2006.
