The Beetle was first produced in 1939. The millionth Beetle came off the German production line on August 5, 1955.
The last original Beetle was produced on July 30th 2003, at the Volkswagen Puebla production plant in Mexico. It was baby blue in colour and was number 21,529,464.
The last 3,000 original Beetles were aptly name "Ultima Edicion." Which in Spanish means "Final Edition."
