Volkswagen Group Australia - a wholly-owned subsidiary of the parent company, Volkswagen AG - assumed local distribution of new vehicles and parts from 1 January 2001 ensuring even better service for local customers.
With a local headquarters in Botany, NSW and a dedicated team of 80 people handling all aspects of the company's operations - supporting sales growth, and the expanded network of dealerships and service facilities - establishment of the local subsidiary reinforces Volkswagen's brand values.
Significant new model introductions are scheduled within the next two years.
Volkswagen's growth in Australia's mirrors its success in other SE-Asian markets making this region one of the world's most important. In fact Australia is Volkswagen's third-largest SE-Asian market behind only China and Japan.
