Volkswagen shifts up one more gear.
| More innovative, more intelligent – and more comfortable than everHere is Volkswagen’s new dual-clutch gearbox DSG – a real gearbox sensation. Why? Because it represents two world premieres at once: On the one hand it is the first 7 gear gearbox for front transverse mounting, and on the other hand it is the first dual-clutch gearbox a ‘dry’ double clutch. What is the benefit for you? The comfort of conventional automatic transmission. The dynamic drive of a manual transmission. And 10 percent less fuel consumption in comparison with a conventional automatic transmission with torque conversion. |
| Dried out: the innovative dual clutchThe essential component of the new 7 gear dual-clutch gearbox DSG is its ‘dry’ running clutch. It dispenses with the oil bath needed in conventional designs - a worldwide innovation in DSG technology. Together with other technical measures this makes the dual-clutch gearbox DSG significantly more efficient. The result: less fuel consumption and less emissions - more comfort, agility and driving satisfaction. |
| Brand new: and already an award winnerThanks to the new 7 gear dual-clutch gearbox DSG this revolutionary gearbox technology can now be implemented in smaller motors with a capacity up to 250 Newton metres. A development which recently found the acclaim of the ADAC: In the category ‘Innovation and the Environment’, the German automobile association awarded the ‘Gelber Engel 2008’ exclusively to Volkswagen’s technology mix of TSI and 7 gear dual-clutch gearbox DSG. |
* The fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions of a vehicle depend not only on the technically efficient exploitation of the fuel within the engine, but also on the driver's style and other non-technical factors. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas influencing global warming. The values provided have been determined according to the prescribed measurement techniques (Directive 80/1268/EEC in the current version). The values given are not specific to an individual vehicle and do not constitute part of the offer being made, but are exclusively for the purpose of comparison between the various vehicle types. Official fuel consumption information and official data on CO2 emissions for new cars are contained in the "Leitfaden über den Kraftstoffverbrauch and die CO2-Emissionen neuer Personenkraftwagen" ('Guide to fuel consumption and CO2 emissions for new cars'), which can be obtained free of charge from all sales outlets and from the DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Helmuth-Hirth-Straße 1, D-73760 Ostfildern. |
