Tips to make your vehicle last longer
- Avoid racing or over revving the engine with no load on the engine (e.g. in neutral).
- On cold starts keep engine revs low and drive smoothly till the engine reaches its optimal operating temperature. This allows the engine oil to circulate around your engine and provide the optimal lubrication.
- The constant stopping and starting in city traffic puts increased stress on your vehicles components such as the engine, gearbox, tyres and brakes. Exercising smooth and consistent starts and stops will also reduce fuel consumption.
- During driving, regularly glance at the vehicles gauges. The key indicators that should be observed are the engines temperature and pressure gauges. If any of these indicators reach critical levels stop the vehicle in a safe position and contact your local Volkswagen Service Centre or refer to the owners handbook.
- When the warning lights appear on the dashboard also stop the vehicle in a safe position and contact your local Volkswagen Service centre or refer to the owners handbook.
- Avoid carrying any unnecessary loads as the additional weight contributes to an increase in fuel consumption.
- Slow down when going over speed humps, and avoid making contact with any gutters or kerbs at it is likely that it will put out your wheel alignment and increase your tyre wear.
