Filling up

Filling up

When filling up your vehicle please note the surrounding warnings at the service station. Failure to abide by these safety warnings can result in a fire, explosion and injury. Often little thought is given when refuelling, but a few important points should be observed.

Safety

- Select a reputable service station.
- Switch engine off prior to refuelling.
- Take note what fuel the vehicle requires either Petrol or Diesel.
- With petrol engined vehicles observe the RON (research octane number) of the fuel prior to filling. This important information can be found on the inside of the petrol flap.
- Do not use your mobile phone during refuelling.
- Do not smoke or expose a naked flame during refuelling.
- Avoid any spillage from the nozzle onto the vehicles paint and remove any spillage immediately.
- Avoid overfilling. For more detailed information on refuelling your vehicle refer to the owners handbook.

Windscreen Wipers

Windscreen wipers are the key mechanical components that enable you to clear your windscreen during driving. To provide you with the best possible visibility during driving, please observe the following tips.

- If you notice the blades are worn, torn, cracked or damaged, replace them immediately to avoid damage to your windscreen.
- If you notice the wiper blades sliding from the wiper brackets, have them replaced immediately to avoid damage to the windscreen.
- Lift wiper blades from the windscreen to remove any accumulated leaves or debris and carefully wipe blades with a clean cloth. Washer fluid is required to remove dirt, grime and oil that is thrown up by other motorists. This accumulation of small granules acts as an abrasive on the windscreen. Over time, a reduction in the clarity of your windscreen will occur.
- Always ensure your washer bottle is full and mixed with genuine Volkswagen windscreen washing additive.
- Do not use an ordinary household detergent as this can damage the washer system and can cause early deterioration of the vehicles paint and seals.
- Do not use water alone as it does not effectively clean the window and can reduce your visibility.

Topping up washer fluid

- The windscreen washer reservoir is located under the bonnet and is indicated with a blue cap.
- Remove the cap and fill to the indicated full marker with the recommended genuine Volkswagen windscreen washing additive.
- Ensure the correct mixture of additive and water is observed.
- Once filled to the indicated level securely fasten the washer fluid reservoir cap.

For further information on your Windscreen wiper system refer to your owners handbook or your Local Volkswagen Service Centre.
