Volkswagen’s plug-in hybrids combine a petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver efficiency without limits. They switch seamlessly between electric and petrol power as needed, or can run in all-electric E-MODE for over 100 km of low-cost driving per charge for the Tiguan and Tayron and 46km for the Touareg. 

Brake energy recovery helps recharge the battery while you drive, extending the electric range. Instant torque from the electric motor makes driving even more enjoyable while reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

All our plug-in hybrid SUVs come with both Mode 2 & 3 charging cables as standard.

The mode 2 cable can be plugged straight into your existing powerpoints. Simply plug in when you get home, and you’ll be ready to go again in the morning.

The mode 3 cable charges even faster, but require a home mounted EV charger, which is great if you have solar, or a public charging station. 

Many of our day-to-day trips are short enough to require no petrol at all. On longer journeys, the electric motor and petrol engine work together to help minimise fuel consumption.

The all-new Tiguan hybrid is the most fuel-efficient in our range at just 1.6L/100km. The Tayron follows at 1.8L/100km, while the sportier and more powerful Touareg checks in at 5.7L/100km.
