Celebrating 70 Years
of Volkswagen Australia

A journey worth a
Guinness World Record

From the very first Volkswagen that graced our Aussie roads, we've been on a mission to bring German engineering to the Australian people, making it not just accessible, but downright irresistible. Picture this: the satisfying thunk of a closing door, every detail meticulously crafted, and an unexplainable joy of driving - that's the essence of Volkswagen. We've always believed that even the tiniest detail can make a world of difference.

To celebrate 70 years in Australia and to mark the production start of the ID. range of Battery Electric Vehicles, we are about to set off on a Guinness World Record lap of Australia in our new all-electric ID.4, to draw the largest GPS image ever created by a car, comprising of the message of "70 years of VeeDub" and a map outline of our vast continent, covering more than 33,000km.

Along the seven-week journey, we will be capturing moments, heroing lovers of our brand, showcasing iconic VW models with interesting backstories and introducing the all-electric capability of ID. 4 to customers and hardcore “VeeDub” fans en route.

Meet the Drivers

Guinness World Record holder Rainer Zietlow and his co-driver and photographer, Marius Biela, buckle-up for a journey in the Volkswagen ID.4 all-electric SUV. Their mission? To celebrate "70 Years of VeeDub" by GPS painting and inscribing the message across multiple Australian states, culminating in a spectacular lap around the entire country. Extensive planning went into choosing the perfect routes to ensure the message stands out, navigating through Australia’s diverse and challenging landscapes.
